Visit the Pays de Neved around Locronan, one of the most beautiful villages in France and Brittany!
After exploring the historic village, come hike with Taliesin off the beaten path along the sunken paths of La Montagne to discover the pagan forces in places steeped in (fountains, woods, menhirs, paths, clearings), discuss with Taliesin the heritage, legends, and ancestral memories of this unique “bro” (“country” in Breton), gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual workings of the nemeton at this sacred site, and, of course, talk about druidism and contemporary Celtic culture.
There are many things to discover around Locronan that make it a unique region. When it comes to walks, there’s something for everyone, regardless of fitness level.
During these excursions (which focus more on the surrounding area than on the historic village itself), Taliesin guides participants on a journey to discover the everyday aspects of the Locronan region by leading them along sunken paths around the village and up the mountain, or by meeting them at Plas Ar Horn for older participants or those who are less physically active.
This is your chance to discover what makes this site so distinctive, what makes it unique, and what makes it a highlight of Brittany (sunken paths, an old gold-panning site, fountains and ancient menhir sites, the “sacred” Nevet forest, why it’s called “a mountain” of granite, etc.), and to appreciate the natural beauty of the Mountain, its biodiversity, and the diversity of the region’s flora.
It also allows you to discover the history and certain traditions of the “Land of the Mountain,” whose meanings the Druid unpacks or whose pagan origins he reveals, as well as local legends and those connected to other nearby sites (Porzay, Sainte-Anne-la-Palud, Douarnenez, and Menez Hom). This is, of course, an opportunity to discuss Brittany and its traditions, to shed light on the meaning of certain Breton words found in place names, and finally to explore the Christian rite of the Grande Troménie and the latest research on the nemeton of Locronan.
Allow at least two hours for each walk.
Here are a few examples of possible walks: a hike around the village along sunken paths (3 hours); a 2-hour hike on Plas Ar Horn (photo above) and to the lookout point; a druidic tour by car to various sites worth visiting (allow at least 3 hours); druidic walks in the Nevet Woods….
